Your transmission keeps your engine moving and your vehicle going and on the road. It is something that you want to take good care of. Here are two major signs that your transmission needs to be examined and fixed that you should be aware of and keep an eye out for.

#1 Leaking Fluid

One of the most common problems that transmission develop is leaking fluid. Your vehicle requires transmission fluid; it is the other type of fluid, besides oil, that you should check-up regularly on. Transmission fluid looks different than oil; it is more transparent, doesn't have a strong odor, and is generally more pink to reddish brown in color. It is a lot lighter than oil. If you spot it under your vehicle, that is a good sign that your vehicle is leaking transmission fluid. Another good sign that your vehicle is leaking transmission fluid is the level of transmission fluid falls more rapidly than normal burn-off would account for.

Transmission fluid leaks for a variety of reasons, such as simple as a leaky or faulty gasket. It can also be caused by something larger, such as damaged transmission fluid line.

It is best to get the issue inspected right away, when the problem is still minor and easily fixable. If you leave the leak untreated, it will continue to progress and will get more expensive to fix over time.

#2 Driving Issues

The second thing that you need to keep an eye out for are driving issues that are caused by a failing transmission. There are a variety of different driving issues that can occur when your transmission is failing.

To start with, when you put your vehicle into drive, you may notice that it takes a few extra seconds for your vehicle to actually get into drive and start moving. When you are driving, you may notice that your vehicle doesn't shift smoothly. You may even hear sounds, such as a thud or even a clunking sound as you shift. Your car may not get up to speed like it should or at the right gear levels. Your transmission may also slip, which means that your vehicle changes gears for no reason, resulting in a whining sound.

These issues can compromise your ability to speed up and slow down when you are out on the road. They compromise your ability to be a safe driver and keep yourself and others around you safe as well.

If you notice driving issues or leaking fluid, it is important to address these issues right away to ensure your safety on the road. For more information, contact a local auto repair service like August European
